Birch

Drop Off Time: Between 8:40-9:00am

Collection Time: 3:10pm

The teacher in Birch class will be Miss Allen. Also working in Birch class will be Mrs Velzian and Mrs Molloy.

Class Routines

PE will be on Tuesdays. Children will come into school in their PE kit on PE days.

Children will enter and leave school using the yellow gate onto the Reception outdoor area.

Reading books will be changed twice weekly. Please make sure your child has their reading book in school every day so that they can read with an adult.

Children will also choose a library book to take home most weeks. These books will usually contain words beyond your child's phonic knowledge and need to be shared together with an adult or older sibling. This is an excellent opportunity to look at the illustrations, discuss characters and their feelings and link the story or information to children's own life experiences.

Spring Term

In the Spring Term children will be learning about all sorts of exciting things. Here are just some of the themes coming up: babies, winter, pets, traditional tales, spring, planting and more. Children will continue building on their phonic knowledge, building on the graphemes and tricky words they have already learnt. They will begin to apply their phonic knowledge with growing independence. In maths, children will be exploring numbers up to ten in lots of depth, with a particular focus on finding out about the composition of these numbers.

Here is what we have been getting up to in Birch Class!

Star of the Week

Each week a child from Birch will be chosen to receive the Star of the Week award. Their photo will be posted here.

Tapestry

Tapestry is an online learning platform and app which is used to create a record of a child's journey through their early years. Teachers, early years practitioners and parents all contribute to their child's record using photos, written comments and videos. All information held in the platform is stored securely, and can be downloaded and shared as required. Parents are able to view online their child’s progress and how much fun they’re having,

If you have not returned the Tapestry Home/School Agreement please ask a member of the Reception team for another copy of the letter.  All parents who have returned the agreement should have received an activation email.  If you cannot find this in your inbox, it may have filtered into your junk mail.  If you have not received an activation email for Tapestry, please let us know and we will resend the invitation.

In the event of a school closure, due to Covid-19, Tapestry will be our primary means of communication.  It is important to us that we have all families fully signed up and able to use their accounts.  If you need any help at all with setting up or using Tapestry, please don't hesitate to ask.
