Comic Relief 18th March

This year Red Nose Day is on Friday 18th March. We have a fun day planned in school and hope to be able to raise much needed funds for the Comic Relief charity.

On the day, children are invited to wear one of the following:

  • Red clothing
  • Official comic relief clothing
  • Items to dress up as a hero – this could be a representative of a particular profession (e.g. nurse, scientist) or a particular famous person (e.g. sports person, author) or someone known personally to the child (e.g. their grandfather) Please, no superheroes!

Children may also wear a red nose if they have one but we will not be selling these in school.

We would ask for a donation of £1 (or more) per child. This can be paid in cash on the day or online via Parent Gateway.

In school, children will have the opportunity to take part in a variety of activities within their classes. The theme is resilience and trying something new! They will be inspired by stories of children supported by Comic Relief and have the chance to complete their own challenges, finding the hero within themselves. We are also hoping to have a variety of activities/challenges available for children to try at lunch time if they would like to.

Teacher T-shirt Competition

Children can choose to take part in a ‘design a Comic Relief T-shirt’ competition. Entry forms are available in each classroom and, for a donation of £1, children can design a Comic Relief T-shirt for their teacher to wear on Red Nose Day. Each class will vote on their favourite design and the winning artist will be able to create their design on a T-shirt (provided by the school) for their teacher to wear! The deadline for entries is Wednesday 16th March.

At break time, children will be able to buy an ice-pop or a cake (supplied by Harrisons) for a donation of your choice. (If your child has any allergies, please ensure that their class teacher is aware of these.)

We hope that the children will really enjoy the day and will feel inspired to try their own challenges but that we will also be able to raise money for Comic Relief.
