Health and Wellbeing Week

During the week of 20th June, all children at The Pines School will be taking part in a Health and Well-being week. This coincides with the National School Sport Week campaign that celebrates the importance of school sports and is just before World Well-Being Week. During the week, the children will be participating in a range of activities to promote both physical and mental health. They will be inspired by ‘The Barnabus Project’ as a whole school text as well as having opportunities to develop written, mathematical and creative skills. Children will be participating in activities in their classes and year groups including the following activities offered by visitors to our school: Fantastic Fred Workshops (Year R to Year 6) GB Athlete visit and ‘circuit sessions’ (All years) Dance workshop (EYFS and KS1) Careers Fair (Years 5 & 6 only) Urban Strides Dance Demonstration (KS2) We ask that all children wear their Pines PE kit for the whole week. This should include sensible footwear, appropriate for a range of sporting activities. Some of the activities will take place outside so a sunhat may be worn and sun cream should be applied before your child arrives at school. A white t-shirt is suitable if your child does not have a Pines PE t-shirt or if you want to be able to swap during the week. Sports day On Friday 24 th June, children in Years R to 6 will be participating in our annual Sports Day. Packed lunches will be eaten on the field and the school meal option for the day will be a cold packed lunch. Parents are invited to attend the afternoon of sports day between 12:45pm and 3pm but will be asked to remain within a cordoned off section of the field. Parents will be able to enter and exit the site using the gate next to The Orchard. Nursery children will have their sports day on the morning of Thursday 23rd June and parents will be able to attend this event. We hope that the week will be a success and enjoyed by all the children. Many thanks, Mrs K Davies Headteacher
