Year 4 - Miss Cole

Miss Taylor

Miss Taylor will be supporting across both Year 4 classes.

Welcome to our class page. We hope you will find it useful and it will let you know what we are currently learning about in school.

Welcome to our Cedar Class webpage where you can find information about our classroom routines, current learning and some recommended websites and information to help! If you have any questions, please contact me via the school email address: admin@thepinesschool.org.uk

Hello, my name is Miss Cole and I am delighted to be teaching Cedar class this year. When I am not teaching, I enjoy going for walks, reading and spending time with my family. I cannot wait to see what exciting things the year has in store for Cedar class and to be working with parents/carers throughout their child's journey in Year 4!

SUMMER TERM

Classroom routines:

Our main classroom door for the start and end of the school day is the door next to the gym corridor, adjacent to the Year 3 classroom at the top playground.

Classroom doors open at 8:40am and the school day ends at 3:10pm.

Our regular PE lessons will be on a Thursday afternoon and Friday afternoon. Children should come to school wearing their PE kit and dark trainers on both of those day, have their jewellery either removed, taped or covered and have their hair tied back, where possible, for those sessions.

Current Learning:

At the moment, we are particularly focusing on this learning:

Writing: Persuasive letter (writing to persuade), Poems (writing to entertain) and SPAG skills (spelling, punctuation and grammar).

Reading: Kensuke's Kingdom (Class novel) and our Reading for Pleasure sessions, which focus on the children exploring different types of texts, sharing their opinions and recommendations on the books they've read and sustaining the book from start to finish.

Maths: Decimals (tenths and hundredths), Money (pounds and pennies) and Time (converting between 12 and 24 hour)

PE: Tennis, Cricket, Athletics and Rounders

Science: Animals and their habitats (life cycles and water cycle)

Art: Ancient Greek vases (use of patterns and clay)

RE: Sikhism (places of worship), Christianity (right and wrong)

Curriculum: Our Incredible World (volcanoes, rivers, earthquakes and mountains)

French: Weather and food (seasons and tea)
