Hello, my name is Miss Cole and I am delighted to be teaching Cedar class this year. When I am not teaching, I enjoy going for walks, reading and spending time with my family. I cannot wait to see what exciting things the year has in store for Cedar class and to be working with parents/carers throughout their child's journey in Year 4!

AUTUMN TERM

Classroom routines:

Our main classroom door for the start and end of the school day is Cedar's classroom door by the top playground gate leading out to the school car park.

Classroom doors open at 8:40am and the school day ends at 3:10pm.

Our regular PE lessons will be on a Wednesday afternoon and Friday afternoon. Children should come to school wearing their PE kit and dark trainers on both of those day, have their jewellery either removed, taped or covered and have their hair tied back, where possible, for those sessions.

Current Learning:

At the moment, we are particularly focusing on this learning:

Writing: Graphic novels (pictures and characters to develop the story).

Reading: The Wild Robot (Class novel) and our Reading for Pleasure sessions, which focus on the children exploring different types of texts, sharing their opinions and recommendations on the books they've read and sustaining the book from start to finish.

Maths: Place Value (hundreds, tens, ones, partitioning, representing), Addition and Subtraction (column addition, column subtraction, more than, less than)

PE: Tag Rugby and Netball

Science: States of matter (solids, liquids and gases), Sound (sound waves)

Art: Roman mosaics (show of wealth and use of patterns)

RE: Christianity (role of sacred texts, difference between right and wrong)

Curriculum: Ancient Romans (Julius Caesar, the Roman invasion of Britain and the bravery of Queen Boudica)

French: Presenting myself (greetings, how are you?, What's your name?
