Early Years
Welcome to Early Years at The Pines. We are very proud of our Early Years and all of the learning which happens here! Across both Nursery and Reception we have implemented 'in the moment planning', meaning we are led by the children's interests and that our timetable has plenty of time for children to learn through play. In both classes, you will find exciting and inspiring spaces for learning, adults who take the time to really listen to the children and lots of opportunities for finding out new knowledge and gaining new skills.
Spring Term
In Reception, this term is all about building on the routines and rules learnt in the Autumn term. The focus is on securing good learning behaviours such as pursuing interests independently, solving problems in collaboration with peers and using language to negotiate and to explain learning. This is also the term when reading and writing starts to 'take off' and these are strong areas of focus.
In Nursery, we welcome some new starters to the setting. There is a focus on settling into the Nursery rules and routines as well as supporting children to make new friends. This term also sees the beginning of some new learning about sound discrimination with a focus grapheme which children will learn about each week.
