Years 3/4

Welcome To Year 3 and Year 4

This term, Years 3 and 4 will learning about life in the Anglo-Saxon era as well as how politics and democracy have shaped Great Britain to be able to answer our Big Question: ‘What makes Great Britain 'great’'. We will use maps to discover some of Britain's coastlines as well as our counties and major cities.  In Art, we will be looking at the work of Castellani and Giuliano which will inspire us to create Anglo Saxon clay brooches that we will subsequently paint.  We will be continuing our twice weekly PE lessons; our indoor session will be gymnastics and for our outdoor lesson we will be practicing the skills needed to play Hockey. Our writing lessons will develop our descriptive writing in adventure stories with a focus on using inverted commas for speech. Our class novel is ‘The Highland Falcon Thief' by M. G. Leonard and Sam Sedgman and is about a jewel thief on the railway. We will end our term with a focus on animals in Science, including learning about the muscles and bones that help animals to move and survive in the wild.
