Welcome To Year 3 and Year 4
This term, Years 3 and 4 will learning about life from the Stone Age to Iron Age, with a focus on changes in Britain, to be able to answer our Big Question: ‘How could you survive the Stone Age?’ We will investigate Stone Age settlements, including Skara Brae, and explore why these locations were chosen with the help of maps. Children will also develop their knowledge of countries in Europe when comparing Stone Age life beyond Britain. In Art, we will be looking at the work of Judith Anne Braun and Andy Goldsworthy to inspire us when making cave painting art and pieces using items found in nature. In our Music lessons, Years 3 and 4 will use both their voices and instruments to perform. We will be continuing our twice weekly PE lessons, including one lead by our sports coach; one of these sessions will be swimming for Year 4 pupils. Our writing lessons will develop our descriptive writing in stories and use a variety of sentence types when writing diary recounts. Our class novel is ‘The Wild Robot’ by Peter Brown and is about how a robot survives in a remote environment. This year, we will be developing our understanding of Sikhism and Christianity. We will end our term with a focus on rocks in Science, including learning about the physical properties of rocks and understanding how fossils are formed within rock.
