Our uniform policy has been updated to reflect the needs of modern learning environments. Traditional uniforms can restrict movement and limit opportunities for active play. Our policy on school uniform is based on the notion that school uniform:

• gives a sense of community and belonging towards the school;

• promotes a sense of pride in the school;

• is practical and in line with the Active Uniform Alliance (https://activeuniform.org) guidance

• prevents children from coming to school in fashion clothes that could be distracting in class;

• makes children feel equal to their peers in terms of appearance;

• is regarded as suitable wear for school and is affordable and good value for money by most parents;

• is designed with health and safety in mind.

• is appropriate for the children to engage in the curriculum e.g. PE, Games, Outdoor Education.

• is designed to encourage active play in line with OPAL

It is an expectation that all pupils will wear their school uniform and will therefore represent themselves as excellent ambassadors to the school.

Our uniform policy takes into consideration children with neurodiversity and/or sensory difficulties – allowing for some flexibility. We expect all pupils at The Pines School to wear the uniform correctly and with due care and attention to our high expectations. We only have one branded item of school uniform that is required (that is an item that has the school name and/or logo on making it unique to the school) – our school jumper or cardigan and two branded items that are optional, our green PE T-Shirt and the book bag used by Nursery and Reception children
