Hello, I am Mrs Moorby-Lewis and I will be teaching Ash class on Monday - Thursday this year. I have taught in Key Stage 2 for fourteen years, and have taught at The Pines since 2015. When I am not working, I love dancing, playing hockey and watching football. I also love listening to music and playing my flute and piano. My favourite thing to do is visit new places with my family. I am really looking forward to teaching Year 5 again this year and I can't wait to see what we'll achieve together in Ash Class. |

Current Learning:
This term, Year 5 will be learning about Mexico and the Maya civilization. We will be spending the first half term exploring Mexico, a region the Maya's inhabited before moving onto how the Maya's lived and what they believed in. Within our English lessons, we will be writing adventure stories. We are reading 'The Explorer' by Katherine Rundell. We will develop our fraction skills in Maths whilst recapping some multiplication and division. In Art we will be exploring shading techniques before looking at artwork by Rosalind Monks. Children are expected to practice their times tables at home and read at home daily to support their learning in class.
At the moment, we are particularly focusing on this learning:
English (Explanation Texts):
Organisational features, e.g. paragraphs, subheadings, adverbials
Contractions
Relative clauses
Brackets, dashes and commas for parenthesis
Maths:
Equivalent fractions, decimals and percentages
Science:
